Introducing:

Penguin Pebbling:
A Game of Creating Belonging, Building Connection and Understanding Autistic Identity

Something new has just landed at Autistic Realms, and it has been made with a lot of love in collaboration with Stimpunks.

Penguins pass pebbles to those they care, to show love and to form a connection. Penguin Pebbling is one of the Five Autistic Love Locutions.

Many neurodivergent people also pass β€˜penguin pebblesβ€˜ to each other as an act of love. You may share a twig you picked up on your walk, a meme about something you know your friend loves β€” not because you have to, not because it is necessarily useful, just because it says: I thought of you. I wanted you to have this. I care.

The Penguin Pebbling Game is a card-based connection game. It's built around the Five Autistic Love Locutions β€” the distinctive ways Autistic people show care, build connection, and create belonging: Infodumping, Parallel Play, Support Swapping, Penguin Pebbling, and Deep Pressure.

No winners. No pressure to perform. Just cards, pebbles, and genuine connection on your own terms.

You can play three ways:

  • Online, directly in your browser β€” no download needed
  • Print and play with friends
  • Use with groups, in therapy or classrooms
  • Play by yourself and use as a reflective journalling tool.

Every card invites you to share in whatever way feels right β€” speaking, writing, drawing, AAC, gesture, or anything else. You can always pass. The pebble bank never runs out.

πŸ“– Three things to explore this week

πŸͺ¨ Play the game β€” play online or download the printable card deck

πŸ’› The Five Autistic Love Locutions β€” a warm introduction to the five ways Autistic people show care and love

πŸ“š Theory, Practice and the Five Locutions: A Guide for Practitioners β€” the research foundations behind the game, for educators, therapists, and support workers
